2007 White Hawk Vineyard Sangiovese Santa Barbara County

The wine is a deep ruby/purple with pronounced aromas of raspberry, jam, bubblegum and cherry (red, dark and sour) made in the Super Tuscan tradition. The palate shows medium tannins, long length, high acidity and flavors of raspberry, brambleberry, strawberry, rhubarb and sour cherry.

The wine will be a blend of 97% Sangiovese and 3% Napa valley Cabernet Sauvignon from the Young-Inglewood vineyard. The wine will be ready to drink at release with peak development in 2009 or 2010. It is an excellent wine best served with tomato-based Italian pasta dishes, wild boar and BBQ chicken. The wine shows that California can grow excellent Sangiovese!
